SOCIETY FAREWELL TO JOHN CLARK
A report on this enjoyable evening, along with photos, is now posted under "News" opposite.
The Governors have appointed a successor to John Clark who retires in August 2014
Dr Jeremy (Jerry) Grundy will become only the 12th Headmaster in the 154-year history of Birkenhead School. Following the retirement of John Clark in August next year, Mr Grundy will take over at the start the new 2014/15 academic year.
John Clark became the current Headmaster in 2003. He was promoted from Deputy Headmaster and took over from Stuart Haggett. It was the first time a BS Head had been appointed from within.
His successor, Dr Grundy was educated at Leeds Grammar School, read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University, going on to McGill University in Montreal to study for his PhD in Philosophy. He was Head of Philosophy and Religious Studies and a Housemaster at St Albans School where he worked until 1999 when he moved to Magdalen College School, Oxford, as Head of Sixth Form and Head of Philosophy. He comes to us from Akeley Wood School in Buckingham where he was appointed Headmaster in 2005.

The "OB Links" page has a link that allows OBs to publish links to their personal/work websites as well as any social media sites they are registered with. When an OB has passed away, family or friends can notify the Society using the link "Remembered" [bottom right] to publish a simple notification or full obituary with or without a photograph. All items for publication will be checked by the site administration before being published.
Finally, use the "OB Updates" button [bottom left] to advise the Alumni Office of your contact details along with any other information such as qualifications, employment or just general information you think may be of interest along with feedback on this site.
The site can be developed in a way that best meets the needs of the ex-pupils of Birkenhead School and we would be interested in feedback on areas of interest for further development. Please email email@example.com if you have any ideas.
