Old Birkonian Society Weekend
11th & 12th September 2010
The 2010 OB Weekend was part of the School's 150th Anniversary being celebrated during the school year 2010/11.
Saturday morning saw the usual OB v School Hockey Match which was won by the OB team.
The Archives Team also launched " The Pictorial History of Birkenhead School Part 2 - 1960 - 2010" in The Lodge and served coffee to those who were chatting or awaiting a guided tour of the School.
Attendees then proceeded to "Big School" now part of the Prep, for the AGM where the President, Andreas Whitttam-Smith, addressed members. This was followed by a buffet lunch in the Dining Hall kindly provided by the School.
In the afternoon attendees went to Noctorum to see the annual OB v School Rugby match.
In the evening the Society held its Dinner Dance in the Sports Hall decked out as a marquee. Around 160 OBs and partners dined and danced until the early hours to music by the dance band, "Episode".
Sunday started with the OB Service in Chapel at 11am conducted by the Rt. Rev'd Colin Bazley OB 1946 - 1954, former Bishop of Chile and Primate of the Southern Cone. This was followed by a buffet lunch and in the afternoon an OB v School cricket match.
