Mr T J C (Tim) Lawford died on 22 November 2009, aged 80. He will be remembered by all who had an interest in music and particularly by members of Chapel Choir. Educated at Radley School, The Royal School of Church Music, Trinity Hall, Cambridge and The Royal Academy of Music, he was Director of Music from 1959-1978. He not only taught music to hundreds of pupils, but was in charge of Chapel Choir for nineteen years. Besides two regular morning chapel services six days a week and the traditional Sunday evensong, there were the annual Christmas carol services and Spring concerts to organise; on several occasions he was asked to provide singers for events in both Liverpool cathedrals. Tim was a fine musician and an accomplished organist. He trained singers to a high level of performance and the tradition of excellent choral singing at the school continues to this day.
