Sad News - George S. De Ritter TD [1925 -1933] died on 23rd July 2008.

George was the President and such a charming "doyen" of the archivists. Having left Birkenhead School in 1933, he and many others joined the T.A., served with distinction in World War II, and returned with them, to pursue a career in insurance in Liverpool. He was very keen on his family origins, in the Levant on his father's side, and always insisted on the capital "D", unlike most who begin their surname with "de".

His funeral is in Birkenhead School Chapel at 11 a.m. on Friday 1st August; all the archivists will miss him greatly.

Jeremy Eyre.

OBs on line pages removed

At a recent Council meeting it was agreed that this site should no longer display members contact details and websites. A number of people had reported receiving inappropriate messages. A facility to replace this page now exists on the Birkonians Connected site which secures the information by requiring a user name and password to access the content. It will also allow members to keep their own information up to date as it was found that a lot of the links previously published on this site are no longer active. Business websites can be listed under "Professional Services" whilst personal sites can be listed under "About Me". If you were previously listed on this site and are not already a member of Birkonians Connected you can click the link opposite and sign up. There is no charge to join the site.
