At Birkenhead School 1971 – 1983

I am widely known among our distinguished circles as ‘Coombsy’; ‘Charlie’ – after Charlie Kunz the pianist; or to some ‘Cadbury’s Flake’ ~ subtle, considering my (still) severe and chronic eczema.

Basically Charlie. Even to the teachers, such as Paul Shaw, CKS, Marty Downes, Arthur Green, and all decent people.

I left with no particular place to go. But in my pocket was the honour of being, ‘last to lose virginity’ and other less fragrant hopes.

Ended up in Lampeter, followed by a 4 year research in Kent ending up with the first ever award of Masters from a British University in the subject – Cartoon Studies. Am now involved in the Cartoon Art Trust.

Left there to spend a year in Denmark as a film production student. Jeg elske Danmark og den Danske folke.

Filming life followed in places as far as Denbigh and a long stay with camera in Port Stanley - still have work occasionally in the Falklands and love the place.

Am now in politics whilst in the UK. Have stood for Parliament (2001), am now a candidate for the new Welsh Assembly (2003 elections). Also am on National Executive in Plaid Cymru. (Oh yes, learnt Welsh). Also advisor on a committee of a major national charity.

It would be great to hear from any one from the late 70s early 80s and later. Will soon start a Falklands OB branch if anyone is interested!!??
